Construction Process & What To Expect

Understanding Each Phase of Our Fiber Installation Process

Depending on the area of the M.D. you are in, construction maybe in different stages. Here’s what you can expect as we continue to connect our community with world-class technology.

PHASE 1: Pre-Construction

What We're Doing:
• Surveying neighborhoods and marking utilities
• Engineering design and planning
• Obtaining necessary permits
• Installing main fiber lines

What Residents Can Expect:
• Colored flags and paint markings appearing on streets and lawns
• Survey crews in the area
• Please don't remove or relocate these markers - they're crucial for safety
• Minimal disruption during this phase

PHASE 2: Active Construction

What We're Doing:
• Digging trenches or using directional boring
• Installing underground fiber conduit
• Setting up connection points
• Building the fiber network backbone

What Residents Can Expect:
• Construction equipment in the area
• Temporary noise during working hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Possible temporary lane closures
• Construction crews working in utility corridors
• Some disruption to yards and boulevards
• Extra care and slower progress during winter months
• Temporary ground disruption during spring thaw

PHASE 3: Property Connection Phase

What We're Doing:
• Installing fiber drop to individual homes
• Setting up exterior connection points
• Running fiber from street to house

What Residents Can Expect:
• Brief access needed to your property
• Small excavation work for underground connections
• Installation of a small box on your home's exterior
• Typically takes 2-4 hours per property
• Scheduling flexibility to accommodate homeowners

PHASE 4: Restoration

What We're Doing:
• Restoring all disturbed areas
• Repairing lawns and landscaping
• Final cleanup and quality checks

What Residents Can Expect:
• Initial ground settling period
• Temporary topsoil and seeding
• Full restoration of affected areas
• Follow-up inspections to ensure satisfaction
• Spring touch-ups for winter construction areas

PHASE 5: Final Installation & Activation

What We're Doing (only if services are requested):
• Installing interior equipment
• Testing connection quality
• Activating service
• Providing user orientation

What Residents Can Expect (only if services are requested):
• Ensure paperwork is complete for services

• Schedule appointment for interior work
• 1-2 hours for final installation
• Basic training on your new service
• Immediate access to high-speed internet
